YFA’s core mission is to empower communities to help themselves. The organization works with impoverished and marginalized populations in urban slums and remote rural areas across Uganda.

YFA collaborates closely with local governments, community leaders, and other stakeholders, implementing its programs through community-based structures.
Through this community-driven approach,

YFA’s success is rooted in the commitment and leadership of local community members who apply local knowledge and innovative solutions to address contextual challenges. Because YFA programs are designed, implemented, and owned by community leaders, program outcomes are sustainable and long-lasting. YFA serves all community members without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, or religious belief.

To fund its programs, YFA relies on diverse partnerships and donor support. Community leadership training and social development initiatives are supported through contributions from individuals and faith-based organizations in Uganda, South Sudan, and Canada.
